Do Things Happen TO You or Do Things Happen FOR You?

The difference between the guys and girls that made it and that are still in the industry and are just killing it and doing well, and the people that just had all the excuses and went into something else wasn't a function of skill or a  function of self-worth. It was a function of self-belief.

It also has something to do with mentality and attitude:

Yes. I know I don't know, but that's okay. I'm gonna figure it out.

I will read whatever you need to read.
I will attend whatever meeting I will call whoever you need to call.
I will get you to coffee and then I will read the textbook.

It is a mentality that all of you have to fight through. By the way, there's a book that I recommend for everybody. And this book will change your life if you haven't read it yet. It's called The Obstacle Is the Way: The Timeless Art of Turning Trials into Triumph. It's by Ryan Holiday and it talks about stoicism.

T
he premise of the book is do things happen to you or do things happen for you?

Ultimately, are you, again the victim or the victor, which position do you wanna take in life?

Because you could sit through these next five days and say, oh, that's easy for him to say or her to say blah blah blah. That's easy guys. That's the easy part.

Don't don't do that. That's too easy. That's it's an easy cop-out.

It’s the easy way to take things.

The hard thing to do is say:

Hey, you know what?
I'm here. So what is that next step?

Who do I need to be of service to? How do I become the person that gets the best deals?

How do I become a person where I can add tremendous value?

How do I learn to be creative and see opportunities other people don't see because it's too easy to say all the markets are too competitive. It's too expensive. Interest rates are going up and all this stuff

But none of those things serve you. Like, if you know anybody in your world, that is remarkably successful. And I don't mean just financially. I mean, they've got their health in order They've got a great family dynamic. They don't b*ch. They don't whine. They don't complain about the things that they don't have in the context of family, friends, business, finances, and health.

They focus on the things that they have control over and the things they have access to.
And they're grateful, and they focus on things that truly matter.

Ultimately are you again,

Victim or Victor

you know, which position do you wanna take in life?

Because you could sit through these next five days.

And say, oh, that's easy for him to say

or her to say blah blah blah.

That's easy, guys. That's the easy part.

Don't do that. That's too easy.

Like, you know, it's an easy cop out.

It's the easy way to take things.

The hard thing to do is say,

Hey, you know what?

The reality is, I'm here.

So, what is that next step?

Who do I need to be of service to?

How do I become the person that gets the best deals?

How do I become a person

where I can add tremendous value?

How do I learn to be creative

and see opportunities other people don't see?

Because it's too easy to say all the markets, too competitive,

too expensive. Interest rates are going up.

Yada. Yada. Blah. Blah. Blah. Blah.

All this stuff. But none of those things serve you.

Like, if you know anybody in your world,

that is remarkably successful.

And I don't mean just financially.

I mean, they've got their health in order.

They've got a great family dynamic.

They don't b***ch.

They don't whine

They don’t complain about the things

that they don't have in the context

of family, friends, business, finances,

health. They focus on the things that they have,

control over, and the things they have access to,

and they're thankful, they're grateful,

and they focus on those things.
